Dream Dinners Franchise Reviews Why Age is Just a Number in the Current Franchise Industry

Not only are more and more individuals of various backgrounds, genders and ethnicities entering the franchising sector, but people of all ages are becoming franchisees. In today’s current franchise industry, age really is just a number.

Whether you’re a fresh-out-of-college Millennial or a Baby Boomer who is looking for a second-act career during retirement, franchising is a great fit for any individual looking to become their own boss.

Today, Dream Dinners franchise reviews why people from all generations are succeeding within the franchise structure.

Who Makes Great Dream Dinners Franchisees?

Millennials— those born between 1980 and the mid-2000s are the newest generation to enter the franchise industry. When the recession hit in 2008, the job market forever changed and many Millennials found themselves out of a job due to inexperience. Despite being the most educated generation, Millennials are now the most underemployed— falling victim to crippling amounts of student loan debt, many Millennials are looking for a career they can control. The result of this economic struggle is a decision to ditch the “standard” corporate position and opt instead for a freeing option franchising often entails. In fact, Millennials will make up about 50 percent of new home-based and low-cost franchisees in the next two years.

Success as a franchisee is driven by an innate need to take risks and innovate, something Millennials understand. Growing up in a digital age has also helped to boost success in business and marketing— launching the social media age, has created an opportunity for Millennials to market in mass quantities, to major markets on a minuscule budget.

Generation X — Stuck in the middle between Millennials and Baby Boomers, these are individuals born between 1960 and 1980.  Fighting economic uncertainty, a large portion, roughly 44 percent, of people ages 35 to 55 are not confident about their ability to retire. As a result, this “forgotten generation” has turned to the franchise industry as a way to regain control.

Looking for a career that allows them to provide for their family and one that can provide a flexible work schedule draws this generation to franchising. Their strong work ethic and need for stability helps to make them successful.

Baby Boomers— those born between 1946 and 1964 make up a large portion of the franchise industry. Many of these franchisees are Baby Boomers who have come out of retirement to launch their second act career. Some of these individuals are choosing to work for more financial stability prior to their retirement while others are retirees who are choosing to work as a way to keep busy and stay fresh.

Franchising provides Baby Boomers with increased workplace flexibility, allowing them to create their own hours and schedules. With 49 percent of Baby Boomers reporting that they don’t expect to retire until age 66+ and another 10 percent predicting they’ll never retire, franchising can provide a career alternative that allows them to become their own boss and take control of their future. Baby Boomers are also to investing in the franchise system with their Millennial children as co-franchisees and are helping to secure a legacy for their children and grandchildren.
