Baby Boomers— those born between 1946 and 1964 make up a large portion of the franchise industry. Many of these franchisees are Baby Boomers who have come out of retirement to launch their second act career. Some of these individuals are choosing to work for more financial stability prior to their retirement while others are retirees who are choosing to work as a way to keep busy and stay fresh.
Franchising provides Baby Boomers with increased workplace flexibility, allowing them to create their own hours and schedules. With 49 percent of Baby Boomers reporting that they don’t expect to retire until age 66+ and another 10 percent predicting they’ll never retire, franchising can provide a career alternative that allows them to become their own boss and take control of their future. Baby Boomers are also to investing in the franchise system with their Millennial children as co-franchisees and are helping to secure a legacy for their children and grandchildren.
